Canadians, Arabs and Jews for a Just Peace (CAJJP) is a committee of Canadians from diverse religious and ethnic backgrounds, origins, ages and professions living in the Halifax, Nova Scotia, area. We are committed to a just peace in Israel-Palestine and want to increase awareness about the realities of Israel's brutal and illegal Occupation of Palestinians' lands in the West Bank and Gaza. The group believes that the only way there can be peace in the Middle East region is through an end to the Occupation. The vision is for an Israel-Palestine where all peoples are equal and free regardless of their religion, culture, ethnicity, age, gender or sexual orientation; and where all the basic tenets of international law and human rights conventions are implemented.
We are committed to participate in the international campaign to end the Occupation in accordance with international law and pertinent United Nations resolutions. This past year CAJJP has been engaging in a boycott of Israeli settlement products produced on Palestinian land. It is illegal for these companies to profit from stolen land and water. The settlements and the businesses that support them help Israel extend and reinforce the brutal Occupation and support violations of human rights and international law. CAJJP works in coalition with like-minded groups and organizations around the world in this boycott. Locally we focus on SodaStream, which has its main factory in the settlement of Ma'aleh Adumim. We hold information pickets at Planet Organic, which is one of eleven retail stores selling SodaStream in the Halifax area.
